Singapore, 25 May 2018 – JAPAN PARK SINGAPORE (JPSG) is Singapore’s first all-in-one event for die-hard and casual fans of Japan, held on Saturday, 4 to Sunday, 5 August at Suntec Convention Centre, Halls 403 and 404. JPSG brings an assembly of the best offerings from Japan’s 47 Prefectures curated into 6 Zones for convenient navigation – WA-Shiok Gourmet Festa, Discover Japan, Technology & Lifestyle, Omakase Stage, Kids Sports and CharaExpo Mini.

With the event tagline “Play, Get and Taste a selection from 47 Prefectures”, JPSG promises a comprehensive itinerary for all ages. Attendees can expect event-exclusive menus, an exquisite selection of Japanese food and beverages, a curated line-up of currently trending and traditional performances and insightful booths presented by local prefecture representatives offering insider tips to add to your travel bucket list.

Nishikawa Yoko

The Omakase Stage will be a time portal of traditional and popular acts featuring high-profile musicians and performers. Amongst the star-studded line-up is Nishikawa Ukon, the third generation director of the elite Nishikawa Company and a prominent figure of Classical Japanese Dance. He will make his first appearance in Singapore, accompanied by traditional Japanese female dancers for an alluring live performance.

We want to fill the gap and provide a wholesome environment for this growing demographic and be especially attentive towards organising family-friendly activities for the young and the old.

The Organisers, Amuse Entertainment Singapore, have tied in support from industry experts like Bushiroad, overseeing CharaExpo Mini’s operations and content line-up. WA-Shiok Gourmet Festa will be curated and managed by the Organisers of Food Japan, OJ Partners and WAttention, purveyor to successful campaigns like Ramen Revolution and Tanjong Pagar Shotengai. Leverage will also be made on the expertise of SOZO, creators of Anime Festival Asia, to provide value and enhance consumer experience.

At the Kids Sports Zone, in collaboration with Albirex Niigata FC (Singapore), a Football club in the Singapore Premier League, will be organising activities to determine the children’s agility, flexibility and sportsmanship as well as mini soccer games.

Omakase means, to be entrusted with the best. At the Omakase Stage, we hope to offer insights and spark an interest in Japanese traditional arts as well as the culture and discipline surrounding it. The programme line-up will be a well-thought curation by the Organisers to provide value and enhance consumer experience by bringing out the best of Japan’s traditional and current entertainment acts.

Voted as one of the top 50 Japanese chefs by European Monde Selection in 2016, the chef, with his main outlet in Kanagawa Prefecture, has spent years formulating the most delicious Hamburg steak using Hokkaido’s Kuroge Wagyu.

Bistro Ryu (Hakata)
Black curry is unique and gaining popularity in Japan. Based in Hakata City, Bistro Ryu’s own concoction is created by simmering pork & chicken broth overnight which brings out the richness of Japanese curry.

Shibaura Genghis Khan
Shibaura Genghis Khan has become a gourmet name in Hokkaido. Once known as the staple food for the warriors of the Mongol Empire, generous portions of lean lamb shanks are mixed with outer fat to maximise the richness of this delicacy. Served with a light home-made sauce and rice, this dish will delight even the most health-conscious of patrons.



Albirex Niigata FC (Singapore) is a professional Japanese soccer team that has been playing for the S.League since 2004 and has been on a winning streak for the last three years.

Besides soccer, Albirex Niigata FC (Singapore) also operates a Cheer Dance School, manages a Singapore-based healthcare project and offers education assistance services In Barcelona, Yangon and Hong Kong.

Nakanishi Sou wears many hats. He is the owner of the Japanese Salon Kokorone, CEO of JP, a creative entertainment company, an entertainment producer, Master of Japanese Tea Ceremony, Lecturer at the Institute of Sound Arts and Director of the NOSS Association.

During his time with Toho Music, he was responsible for producing Japanese cast recordings of major musicals such as Les Misérables, Miss Saigon, Elisabeth, Mozart!, Jekyll & Hyde and Twelfth Nights.

After taking over the reins at JP, Sou published all 100 volumes of Sengoku-oh, a magazine that tells of the Warring States period. His passion for Japanese tradition is apparent with the opening of Japanese Salon Kokorone at the Shinbashi Enbujo Theatre in 2016, a tribute to Japanese Dance and its arts. Sou also frequently demonstrates the Japanese Tea Ceremony to foreign visitors, and also hopes to convey the true meaning of “Omotenashi” to the world.



The eldest son of the second Koisaburo Nishikawa, the third director of The Nishikawa School was born in Nagoya in 1939. He studied dance under his father’s tutelage, first performing before an audience at the age of three. At 16 he became a student of Kanjuro Fujima, considered the greatest authority on Japanese dance. He choreographed his first original dance at age 19 and has since created over 3000 compositions. In 1962 he won the Nagoya Pen Club Award for his original work “Yaeyama Tsubaki”.

In 1983 after the death of his father, Ukon Nishikawa inherited the leadership of the Nishikawa School. A special performance celebrating his succession was given in Tokyo and featured many Kabuki and Odori artists honoring the beginning of his career as headmaster.

Under his guidance, the school has established itself as one of the leading authorities on traditional Japanese Dance. Its classic style of Odori is taught throughout Japan. With over 5000 licensed instructors, its enrollment has grown to over 50,000.

In addition to serving the Japanese audience, Ukon founded Nishikawa Kai, a foundation with the mission of making traditional Japanese dance known to more people. In 1984 Ukon led the first Odori U.S. tour and has followed since with tours to the U.S. and to Europe.

At present Ukon resides in Nagoya where he choreographs, performs and oversee the education of his students. His wife and three children are all Odori artists.



OKAZU, born in 1985, is an ink-wash painting artist with the Sengoku Dama, an Organization formed to pay homage to the Warring States period.

OKAZU’s works center around the Warring States period, aiming to depict the beauty within chaos. He is known for his distinctive and dynamic style of painting, showing the raw beauty of brush strokes without the need for shading and gradations.

Tomotaka Takahashi creates, designs, and invents unique and original humanoids (Ropid, FT, Chroino, Neon), including robot astronaut “Kirobo”, robot smartphone “RoBoHoN” and De Agostini “Robi”. His passion for the cutting edge in robotics brings him into collaborations with other leaders in the field, researchers and corporations.

Born in Yokkaichi, Mie, brothers KUNIAKI and KENJI, form the Shamisen Rock unit KUNI-KEN. Both were appointed Yokkaichi Tourism Ambassadors in August 2016.

KUNI-KEN’s one of a kind approach in fusing rock music elements with the Shamisen, a traditional Japanese stringed instrument, has brought them recognition on the global stage and had them performing to international audiences in Switzerland (POLYMANGA 2018), France (Japan Expo 2017), Singapore, India, Dubai, Macau, Manila and Myanmar. Born in 1992 on the southern island of Japan known as Kyushu, at age 17, Yota Towatari bought his first guitar, started writing music and playing for live audiences in live houses in Fukuoka.

Inspired by the enigmatic American musicians from the 1990s, such as Jeff Buckley and Kurt Cobain, Towatari released his first EP, Starting Point of the Prism in 2014. From this EP, Towatari won two awards, one from the “Japan Records Awards, Kyushu Block” and one from the “Yoka ne!” Award. The following year, Towatari was chosen by Apple as the New Artist Spotlight and released his second EP, Solitary Primary Colors. From this album, Sometimes the World is Beautiful, became a frequently played song on radio stations across Japan. In 2016, Towatari made his major debut with the album, “I Wanna be Yota Towatari”.

Since his debut release, Towatari has been playing at various venues and music festivals across Japan, including a one man tour, “I Wanna Be Yota Towatari”, and a collaborative tour with various famous Japanese musicians, entitled “Best of Ten Matches”. Following this, the single “Happy” became the theme song of the Nagoya TV Japanese drama, “Iju in Gifu!”. Towatari will release a new EP, Architecture for the Light in April, 2018.
