Guitarist, composer, actor, UNHCR ambassador and a father of 2, Japanese artiste, MIYAVI has gained recognition around the world for his unconventional style of playing the guitar; not with a pick, but with his fingers in a unique “slap style”. Having done more than 250 shows in 30 countries, MIYAVI is finally coming to Singapore to perform for the first time as part of his seventh world tour on 1 April 2018. MIYAVI has recently celebrated the 15th anniversary of his major debut in 2017 together with a special 15-band live tour in Japan. As he strives to consistently aim for the next level, his fans have dubbed him as the “Samurai Guitarist. A great producer, he has produced music for several television commercials for brands such as Uniqlo, Toshiba, Nissan, Lotte Co., Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co and more.
Avid movie buffs may also recognise MIYAVI, he made his Hollywood acting debut in Angelina Jolie’s 2014 film, Unbroken. He also undertook smaller acting roles in Kong: Skull Island and Stray. Having supported UNHC since working with Angelina Jolie, MIYAVI was appointed as Japan’s first Goodwill Ambassador in 2017.
MIYAVI’s seventh world tour will not only take him to Singapore and cities in Japan, but he will also visit Seoul, Taipei, Shanghai, Beijing and Hong Kong.
