SINGAPORE, 26 August 2019 – Savour the best flavours of Japan, the Land of the Rising Sun this September at Town Restaurant. From 5 to 15 September 2019, alongside its popular repertoire of local and international offerings, Town Restaurant presents a delicious selection of Japanese favourites such as sashimi, sushi and tempura alongside wholesome Japanese specialties and mouth-watering Japanese sweets. Signatures not to be missed are the Japanese Style Chawanmushi Lobster with Tobiko, which is prepared upon order and served at the table. On Friday and Saturday nights, guests will enjoy Japanese Style Baked Spiny Lobster with Creamy Spicy Wasabi Mayonnaise.

To start, enjoy a medley of specially created Japanese salads on ice such as Duo Cabbage and Seaweed with Shisamo Mentai Salad and Miso Roasted Sweet Potato and Broccoli Salad. Not to be missed is the seafood on ice featuring the likes of Fresh Spinal Crabs, Prawns and Poached Hokkaido Scallops with Spice Japanese Mayo and Tobiko.

Sushi and sashimi lovers will be pleased with the selection of fresh sashimi featuring salmon, sword fish and octopus, and a sushi selection of handmade maki rolls, temaki sushi, makimono and nigiri sushi. The highlight is the live station serving up Chef Norman’s signature hand rolls such as Blue Fin Negitoro with Scallion, Spicy Tuna Loin with Mayonnaise & Scallion as well as California with Avocado, Crab Meat & Tobiko Fish Roe, all of which are prepared upon order and served with fresh wasabi and Japanese shoyu. On Saturday nights, catch the chefs in action as they slice up a whole tuna in a special ritual known as maguro kaitai. Maguro refers to the tuna, while ‘kaitai’ means ‘dismantling’ in Japanese.

Other live stations to tempt hungry diners are the Japanese carving station serving up Teriyaki Glaze Grilled Whole Fillet of Salmon and Iberico Pork Belly Cha Shu; and the noodles station dishing up Japanese staples like Japanese Ramen Noodle Soup and Cold Cha Soba.

For mains, there are choices galore from the fork-tender Beef Kakuni and Saba Shiokyaki (Grilled Mackerel with Sea Salt) to down-home comfort food like Pork Yakiniku. Alternatively, opt for all varieties of tempura-battered shrimps, pumpkin wedges, shiitake mushrooms and Japanese sweet potatoes, or feast on grilled skewers of delicious chicken, asparagus bacon rolls and quail egg roll with pork belly. For an East-meets-West variation, pick up a slice of Japanese Style Okonomiyaki Pizza, featuring Japanese Teriyaki Chicken, Sweet Corn and Goma Sauce.

Finish on a sweet high with traditional and modern Japanese desserts such as Dorayaki (Japanese Pancake), Assorted Mochi, Yokan (Red Bean Jelly), Japanese Sponge Cheese Cake and Sakura Cherry Blossom Ice Cream, all of which are guaranteed to spark joy.
