Our very 1st Sumire was opened in Yutenji, Tokyo back in June 2009. At that time, the image of Yakitori dining for most was more of a Yakitori Bar concept – for men to enjoy beer or sake with their food. Mr. Yuzawa Tadanori, the President of Sumire thought it would be better if more people could enjoy the cuisine. As such, Sumire was conceptualized so that diners with families, office ladies, couples and many more can enjoy Yakitori in a casual and comfortable setting, lively atmosphere and personable service, thus changing the concept from a Yakitori bar to a Yakitori Restaurant. Till date, we have over 70 outlets in Japan.
